Welcome to Si-BIN Lab

The lab takes its originis from the previous Brain Stimulation and Evoked Potentials Lab, founded by Simone Rossi in 1996 and by the Neurophysiology Lab of prof.Alessandro Rossi, who now leads the Unit of Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology and the Department. In more recent years, Emiliano Santarnecchi, now co-director of the SI-BIN, widened the fields of studies and investigantions of the lab to neuroimaging procedures, neuroenhancement and multimodal investigantion of cognitive functions. So our current main interest and topics cover multimodally all aspects of brain functions (in the health and disease), brain stimulation, neuromodulation, and neuroimaging.

We use noninvasive brain stimulation to gain novel insights into the human brain and mind. Our work has been fundamental in modulation human functionals connectivity by using noninvasive brain stimulation to create the field of therapeutic.

We are committed to provide education and training on the use of noninvasive brain stimulation for both clinical practice and research.

Our Equipment

Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Electroencephalogram (EEG) is an electrophysiological monitoring method to record electrical activity of the brain. Brain cells communicate with each other through electrical impulses. The EEG can be used to track and record brain wave patterns

Non Invasive Brain Stimulation

Non invasive brain stimulation techniques have cropped up in the field of neuroscience. We are focus on two different types of brain stimulation currently being used in the research field: Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Transcranial Electric Stimulation (tES)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Magnetic resonance imaging is a medical imaging technique used in radiology to form pictures of the anatomy and the physiological processes of the brain in both healthy and patient populations. MRI scanners use strong magnetic fields to generate image of the brain
